Yacob

This room is situated on the ground floor next to the dining room. The light reaches the room thru windows high up on the wall which is typical to riads. It is called “Iraq style glass” The window has tinted glass and a spectacular handcrafted cedar wooden frame that covers most of the window, It allows the colored glass to project off the walls in the morning hours. The walls are beige/off white tadelakt with a hand made frieze. The floor is terracotta sticks in a special pattern with glazed azur blue and black mosaic in between. The head feature headboard of the is in dark almost black wood with the Moroccan star carved into it. The furniture of the room is also very dark wood. There is a marriage chest to place your suitcase on. It comes from Mauritania. You reach the bathroom thru the wooden saloon doors. The walls of the bathroom are beige/off white tadelakt polished to a shine. The shower has Beige/blue and green mosaic in it. There is an antique toilet roll holder. An antique towel rack which comes from old French hotels from the colonial time. They are in copper and so is the sink and mirror. What makes the room of Yacob special is the smell of cedar wood that meets you when you open the closet where you hang your clothes. The walls are decorated with pictures of veiled Berber women. This is a quiet and cool room.
